UMass Memorial Medical Center offers an Orthopedic Oncology Program as an integral part of the comprehensive orthopedic services provided to patients and physicians in Central Massachusetts by the UMass Memorial Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence. 
</p>
<p>
The Orthopedic Oncology Program includes clinical and consultative services for the management of patients with benign, malignant and metastatic bone and soft-tissue tumors, including Ewing&#39;s sarcoma, osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, chordoma and other malignancies that involve the musculoskeletal system. 
</p>
<p>
Multidisciplinary, specialized services include: 
</p>
<ul class="unIndentedList">
	<li>Diagnostic radiology - X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scans, bone scans, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scans and other digital diagnostic imaging tests utilized in the diagnosis of cancer</li>
	<li>Orthopedic surgery - Biopsy and/or surgery to diagnose and remove tumors</li>
	<li>Pathology - Examination of tissue samples to determine tumor type</li>
	<li>Radiation oncology - In collaboration with leading radiation oncologists and using state-of-the-art technology</li>
</ul>
<p>
The program&#39;s orthopedic oncologist completed advanced fellowship training in musculoskeletal oncology at the nationally recognized Mayo Clinic. Clinical staff also work in close collaboration with the respected <a href="MedicalCenterIP.cfm?id=1854">UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence</a>.
